MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Mayor Bill Collins has announced a series of closures and service modifications for City of Marion residents during the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday week. Essential services, including fire, police, and airport operations, will continue as usual.
City Hall and Offices
All offices within City Hall will be closed on Thursday, November 27, and Friday, November 28, 2025. Due to the two-day closure, City Hall offices will observe their weekly early closing day on Wednesday, November 26. The Municipal Court office and the Utility Billing office will close early at 2 p.m. that day.
Sanitation and Streets Department
There will be no trash, recycling, yard waste, or leaf collection on Thursday, November 27.
Sanitation and Streets Department services will resume on Friday, November 28. On Friday, crews will collect refuse, recycling, and yard waste for both Thursday and Friday routes. Residents who typically have Thursday sanitation and recycling service must place their collections at curbside by 7 a.m. on Friday. Leaf collection will also resume on Friday.
Transit and Senior Services
Marion Area Transit will be closed with no bus service available on Thursday, November 27, or Friday, November 28. Bus service will resume its normal operating hours on Monday, December 1, 2025.
The Marion Senior Center will also be closed on Thursday and Friday. Senior transportation will not be available on either day, with the exception of dialysis appointments on Friday only.
