MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—In Tuesday’s Marion City Council election, a significant decision was made  as residents  voted against the Proposed Charter Commission.
The charter proposal received 1,708 votes opposing it, while only 1,393 residents supported it.

Two key council positions were unopposed, they included the election of Vidya Iyengar as Treasurer and Mary Stoneburner as the Marion City Council President.

Three Council-At-Large seats were secured by Dan Clark, Scott Crider, and Aaron Rollins.
Additionally, the following City Council Ward seats were filled by unopposed candidates, including Shawn Barr for Ward One, Pamela Larkin for Ward Two, Ralph Smith for Ward Three, Twila Lang for Ward Four, and Thaddeus Smith for Ward Five.

Ward Six saw a competitive race, where Ron Prater garnered 743 votes, defeating Anthony Azaria, who received 585 votes.
