MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Marion County Board of Developmental Disabilities will host a free community screening of the Disney film “Out of My Mind” on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 6 p.m. at Pleasant High School. The event is open to the public.

Based on the best-selling novel by Sharon M. Draper, “Out of My Mind” tells the story of Melody Brooks, a brilliant sixth grader who is nonverbal and uses a wheelchair due to cerebral palsy. The film follows Melody’s journey as she navigates school, family, and friendships, advocating to be seen and heard for her intelligence and wit.

The screening aims to bring the community together to experience a powerful story that highlights the themes of inclusion, empathy, and advocacy for people with disabilities. The event is a unique opportunity for students, teachers, and families to engage with a film that has resonated with audiences for its authentic and inspiring message.

Pleasant Local Schools is located at 1113 Owens Road Marion, Ohio. Admission is free, and the community is encouraged to attend.
