MARION COUNTY (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Marion County Dog Pound is seeking dog lovers in Marion County to foster a dog over the holidays. With nearly 70 dogs currently in the facility, there’s a perfect match for everyone.

The pound’s dogs come from various backgrounds, and fostering provides valuable insights into their personalities, behaviors, likes, and dislikes. Fostering during the holiday season can expose the dogs to new experiences such as noises, playful children, and visitors, providing useful information for the pound.

If a particular dog catches your eye, the pound encourages you to reach out. The facility will be closed to the public on Thursday, November 23, for Thanksgiving, but rest assured, the dogs will still receive care. The pound requests that any foster meet and greets or pickups be scheduled by Wednesday evening.

For the safety and comfort of all involved, any children or dogs in the home must meet the pound dog prior to fostering. Dogs can be returned to the pound on Friday, November 24, but fosters are welcome to keep them longer if desired. Supplies will be provided as available.

The pound has also announced that several dogs have passed their cat test, indicating they can safely interact with cats. The dogs include Buddha, Joey, Clara, Skits, and Troy. The pound can conduct a cat test for any dog upon request.

This holiday season, consider opening your home to a pound dog. It’s a rewarding experience that can make a significant difference in a dog’s life.
