MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Marion County Park District has announced a schedule of outdoor activities for June, along with the addition of a new Naturalist Intern, Riley McCoy.
McCoy will bring “fresh ideas” and new programs to the district this summer, according to a park district announcement.
Returning this month is the Kiddos At The Park Outdoor Preschool, a hands-on nature program for children ages 3–6. Sessions will be held at the Marion Tallgrass Trail on June 20 and June 27 at 10 a.m. Registration for each session opens the Sunday before at 1 p.m. on the park district’s Facebook page, and space is limited to 15 children per week on a first-come, first-served basis. A parent or guardian must remain with the child during the program.
The district will also host “MOTHAPALOOZA AT THE TRAIL” on Saturday, June 14, from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Moth expert Bill Bender and park naturalist James will lead the event, featuring moth baiting and blacklights. James will also give a talk on Ohio’s moths and how to attract them. The event is open to all ages.
In addition to these events, the Marion County Park District will have a presence at OOrang Bang in LaRue, the Latino Health Fair, and Downtown Marion’s Third Thursday.
The park district encourages the public to check their June calendar flyer for more details and to follow them for weather updates and programs led by the new intern, Riley McCoy.
