MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—As the leaves begin to change and a crispness fills the air, Marion County is gearing up for a season of spooky and autumnal events throughout September and October. Residents and visitors have a variety of options to celebrate the Halloween season, from haunted attractions to family-friendly festivals.
For those seeking a scare, two haunted attractions are set to open. Haunted Hoorah, an immersive military-themed horror experience, is located in Marion and begins its season on Sept. 19. Just outside of Marion in Caledonia, The Dead Woods Haunted Trail will also be open on weekends starting in October.
Marion’s historic downtown will also get a taste of the spooky season with the Downtown Marion Inc. Fall Festival. Scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 16, the event will feature fall-themed fun, food, and music.
For traditional fall fun, local farms are a prime destination. Both Lehner’s Pumpkin Farm in Radnor and The Farm at Locust Creek in Waldo will have “you pick” pumpkin patches open on weekends throughout the fall. Both farms also feature corn mazes and other family-friendly activities.
The city of Marion has set its official trick-or-treat hours for Oct. 31 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
