MARION COUNTY, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—On February 7th, 2024, Humane Agents from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in the 150 Block of Latourette Street, marking a significant development in a two-week-long investigation into allegations of Animal Cruelty and Neglect.

The search warrant led to the rescue of a total of 59 animals, including 8 canines, 4 felines, 3 rabbits, 10 gerbils, 1 guinea pig, 4 rats, 28 degus, and 1 bearded dragon. The breeds of the canines and felines varied, reflecting the broad scope of the neglect case.

Charges of Prohibitions Concerning Animals and Cruelty to Animals are forthcoming on three individuals involved in the case. The identities of these individuals will be disclosed once charges are formally filed.

Sheriff Bayles expressed his gratitude towards the Humane Agents for their tireless efforts in handling these difficult cases. He stated, “Our Humane Agents will continue to put forth the effort to protect those that cannot protect themselves and will prosecute those responsible for animal neglect and abuse.”
