MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Marion Fire Department crews responded to a working structure fire in the 150 block of North Vine Street on Monday at 4:54 p.m.
Captain Ryan Redmon arrived on scene and assumed command of an abandoned wood frame structure that was heavily involved in fire. Multiple nearby homes were threatened by radiant heat.

Firefighters immediately established permanent water supplies and utilized deck guns from Engine 21 and Engine 23 to knock down the main body of the fire. Ladder 24 was positioned upwind and began aerial operations with its 85-foot ladder.
The fire was brought under control, and a controlled demolition of the structure began due to dangerous conditions.
Marion Township Fire Department Medic 304 and the Marion Police Department provided additional resources at the scene. Aqua provided boosted hydrant pressure due to the large volume of water being used.
Crews remained on scene for just over four hours. Investigative efforts into the cause of the fire are currently underway. Ten additional firefighters were called in to staff other Marion Fire Department units while the incident was being handled.
