MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Mayor Bill Collins has taken action to address the vacancy left by the resignation of City Auditor Miranda Meginness, which took effect on Wednesday.
Collins has appointed Deputy Auditor Marden Watts as the Interim Auditor for the City of Marion.
In an appointment letter, Mayor Collins stated, “Pursuant to the authority provided to me by the Ohio Revised Code, I do hereby appoint you as Interim Auditor of the City of Marion, Ohio until such time as a permanent selection is made. This appointment is effective at 11:55 a.m. on the 21st day of January, 2026.”
In comments to Marion County Now, Mayor Collins expressed optimism about the appointment, stating, “I am hopeful that this positions us to be able to move forward and begin fixing those issues that have been neglected.”
