MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Marion Palace Theatre is inviting young actors to audition for its upcoming Junior Palace Production of Bringing Down the House, a stage comedy by Todd Wallinger.

The fast-paced, laugh-out-loud show is described as being full of theatrical chaos, set inside a “musical” where the songs are never sung. Performances are scheduled for Feb. 20–22, 2026, on the historic Palace main stage.

Director Morgan Schwartz is seeking boys and girls ages 8 and up to audition on either Tuesday, Jan. 7, or Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2026. Auditions will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the Palace main stage. Participants need only attend one of the two scheduled dates.

Audition Requirements

The comedy is a large ensemble show featuring many comedic roles, including aspiring artists, egotistical actors, and demolition crews. The play does not require singing or dance experience.

Auditioners should be prepared to:

  • Present a memorized poem or monologue (30–60 seconds).
  • Wear comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for movement.

Rehearsals will be held three evenings per week from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the production team offering scheduling flexibility to accommodate school and extracurricular conflicts.
