MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—On January 8, 2025, at 3:15 p.m., Marion Police Officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle injury crash involving a Marion City School bus. The incident occurred on Delaware Avenue at the traffic light intersecting with the service road to the Walgreens Pharmacy.
The school bus was traveling southbound on Delaware Avenue when it collided with a 2014 Jeep Cherokee driven by David Crowe, 70, of Prospect, Ohio. Crowe was traveling northbound on Delaware Avenue and making a westbound turn into the service road of Walgreens Pharmacy when the crash occurred. Crowe and 17 passengers from the bus were transported to Marion General Hospital with varying degrees of injuries, none of which were life-threatening.
Crowe was issued a citation for failure to yield at an intersection.
The Commercial Enforcement Unit of the Ohio Highway Patrol responded to the scene to conduct an inspection of the school bus, as is typical in crashes involving commercial vehicles. The Marion Police Department was also assisted at the scene by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Marion City Fire Department, Marion Township Fire Department, Pleasant Township Fire Department, and troopers from the Marion Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol. Administrators from Marion City Schools were on scene to assist with the investigation and to facilitate parental notifications and student reunification.
