MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Marion Popcorn Festival is set to delight attendees with a free live entertainment event at the Marion Palace Theatre on Thursday, September 5. The highlight of the Popcorn Matinee will be a performance by the Liverpool Lads, a Beatles tribute band based in Northeast Ohio.
Since 2009, the Liverpool Lads have been recreating Beatles memories and surpassing audience expectations. They use replicas of the same vintage instruments, amplifiers, and wardrobes used by the Beatles to deliver accurate and energetic live performances. Just like the Beatles, their shows are all live, without backing tracks or overdubbing. The band consists of four dedicated musicians who give their all for Beatles fans every time they perform.
Sponsored by Aqua America and Buckeye Ridge Habitat for Humanity, the Liverpool Lads’ performance will begin at 2:00 PM and is free and open to the public, with no tickets required.
The 43rd annual Marion Popcorn Festival will take place from September 5 to 7, 2024. All performances at the festival are free of charge. Main Stage performances will start with local bands at 6:00 PM, followed by headlining artists at 8:30 PM after the Opening Ceremonies Sponsorship Recognition. The lineup includes Harvest, a Neil Young tribute band, on Thursday; country artist Dillon Carmichael on Friday; and Southern rockers Jackyl on Saturday. A limited number of Kernel sponsorship seats are available for the evening Main Stage performances by calling 740-387-FEST.
Other festival events and activities include the Popcorn Parade on Thursday with over 300 units, a 5K run, the MOFAS Fine Arts show at Kin & Kilt, crafts and vendors, a corn hole tournament, the Community Showcase Stage, a new family area at Founders Park, the Poppin’ Party stage beer garden, and much more.
