MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Matthew K. Walker has been selected 2023 Trooper of the Year at the Marion Post.

The selection of Trooper Walker, 34, is in recognition of outstanding service during 202 3 at the Marion Post. Fellow officers stationed at the Marion Pos t chose Trooper Walker based on his leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude, and cooperation with supervisors, peers and the public.

Trooper Walker joined the Highway Patrol in 2021. He has been assigned to the Marion Post throughout his career. He is originally from Fort Myers, Florida and graduated from Lexington High School. Trooper Walker worked in Corrections prior to joining the
Highway Patrol. Trooper Walker received 2 commendation letters and was recently certified as a Field Training Officer. Trooper Walker received a Medal of Valor from Marion County Public Safety Awards Committee and a Certificate of Appreciation.
