MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Matthias L. Carson has been selected 2024 Trooper of the Year at the Marion post.

The selection of Trooper Carson, 27, is in recognition of his outstanding service during 2024. Fellow officers stationed at the Marion Post chose Trooper Carson based on leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude, and cooperation with supervisors, peers, and the public.

Trooper Carson is now in contention for the District and State Trooper of the Year Award to be announced at a later date.

Trooper Carson is originally from Columbus, and graduated from the Ohio Virtual Academy.  He earned his commission from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy in January of 2020 as a member of the 166th Academy Class and was assigned to the Marion Post. While serving at Marion, Trooper Carson has received the Health and Fitness Award, the Criminal Patrol Award for his accomplishments in the area or felony apprehensions, the Traffic Safety Award, and was selected as the 2022 Marion Post Trooper of the Year.
