MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Marion Public Library is launching its annual Summer Reading Adventure from June 2 through July 31, encouraging reading and learning for all ages.

The program, themed “2025 Summer Reading Adventure!“, invites kids, teens, and adults to earn prizes by reading throughout June and July. In partnership with Marion’s local “Let’s Read 20” initiative, the library aims to keep kids engaged and promote literacy by encouraging at least 20 minutes of reading per day.

Participants can also look forward to finding a new book to enjoy at the Marion Tallgrass Trail.

The library is offering a sign-up prize while supplies last and will waive overdue fines for participants.

Kids Programs: Children can pick up reading logs in the kids’ area and earn prizes and entries into prize drawings by reaching different reading levels. They can complete up to two reading logs and must be present to register and collect prizes by August 9. Upcoming kids’ programs in June and July include various story times, “Lapsit Baby Time,” a “Whiz Bang Science Show,” an “I Spy an Artist” event, a “Robotics Camp” (registration required, began May 19), “Family Fun Night: Make Some Magnets,” “Babies Explore Senses!,” “Make a Minecraft Portrait,” “Shapes Evening Story Time!,” and a “Dragon Training Academy Show.”

Teen Programs: Teens can also pick up reading logs in the kids’ area with similar prize opportunities. Teen programs include “TEEN Pin and String Art,” “TEEN Trivia,” a “Robotics Camp” (registration required, began May 19), and “TEEN Cupcake Decorating” (registration required, begins June 7).

Adult Programs: Adults (18+) can log their reading to enter prize drawings, with more entries for reading more. Prizes will be drawn throughout the summer, with a grand prize drawing at the end of July. Completed reading logs should be returned by July 31, and prizes must be picked up by August 9. Adult programs in June and July include discussions, workshops, yoga, game nights, and crafting events.

Registration is required for some programs.

Some of the live performances for the Summer Reading Fun are supported by a grant from the Janis & Greg Swepston Family Fund at Marion Community Foundation.
