MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Marion Public Library (MPL) continues its popular “In The Author’s Voice” series with a special appearance by acclaimed young adult author, Mindy McGinnis, on Monday, July 22. The event aims to deepen the connection between readers and authors, and is expected to appeal to middle-grade, teen, and adult patrons alike.

McGinnis, a ninth-generation farmer from Cardington, Ohio, has penned multiple novels across various genres. Her writing is known for delivering “grit, truth, and an unflinching look at humanity and the world around us.” Her most recent book, “Under this Red Rock,” along with a selection of her other works, will be available for purchase during the event.

When asked about her affinity for writing young adult literature, McGinnis shared, “I’m drawn to writing for teens because I write the types of books that I wish I would’ve had when I was growing up. Most of the titles when I was a teen were very safe, very antiseptic, so I was reading adult books at an early age.”

The open-house author event does not require a ticket. Doors open at 6:00 pm, with the program commencing at 6:30 pm, followed by a book signing at 7:30 pm.

Patrons are encouraged to stop by Marion Public Library to check out a book by McGinnis before the event. A selection of her books is conveniently displayed just inside the front doors of MPL for easy pickup.
