MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—A fatal crash on State Route 423 in Marion County is under investigation by troopers from the Marion Post, according to a statement released on December 25.
The incident, which occurred at approximately 9:33 PM, involved a 2005 Lexus ES driven by Connor M. Martin, 40, of Marion. Preliminary findings suggest that Martin was traveling southbound on State Route 423 when his vehicle veered left of the centerline and off the left side of the roadway. The Lexus subsequently struck a road sign and a ditch before hitting a tree and overturning.
Martin, who was ejected from the vehicle during the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marion County Coroner. Reports indicate that he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the incident.
Assistance at the scene was provided by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Pleasant Township Fire and EMS, and Kirby’s Towing. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
