MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Mayor Bill Collins has officially named Vidya (Ramanna) Iyengar as the new City Auditor of Marion following the resignation of former auditor Miranda Meginness. Iyengar, who has served as the Marion City Treasurer, will complete Meginness’ unexpired term in the role.

Born in India in 1953, Iyengar pursued her higher education at the University of Bangalore, earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

She moved to Marion in 1978 after marrying her late husband, Shailesh Iyengar, in 1977. Shortly after her arrival, she began her career with the Marion-Erie Credit Union, where her leadership led to its evolution into the Marion Community Credit Union. In 2020, the institution rebranded as Pillar Credit Union, where Iyengar served as CEO until her retirement on January 1, 2024.

Elected as Marion City Treasurer in November 2025 to replace Tommy Reece, Iyengar assumed office on New Year’s Day, 2026. A registered Republican residing in the city’s 6th ward, she ran unopposed for the treasurer position.

Iyengar steps into the auditor’s office at a challenging time, as the city navigates through fiscal distress and heightened scrutiny from the Auditor of the State of Ohio’s office. Her current term as auditor is set to expire on January 1, 2028.

Following her election as auditor, the local Republican Party will appoint a replacement for Iyengar’s former role as treasurer.
