MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—McDonald’s fans across Ohio helped raise more than $100,000 for local high school athletic programs during the third annual High School Sports Digital Fundraiser Day on Oct. 23.

The initiative, launched by Ohio McDonald’s Owner/Operators in 2023, channeled 10 percent of all sales made through the McDonald’s app on that single day to high school sports. The effort raised an impressive $100,664, benefiting 273 athletic programs statewide.

Each locally owned McDonald’s restaurant selected one high school in its community to receive the funds. Organizers guaranteed a minimum donation of $250 to each designated school.

“We are proud to have these connections in the communities that we serve,” said McDonald’s Owner/Operator Katie Blankenship. “We’re thankful for everyone who came out to support their local high schools and help us make the High School Sports Digital Fundraiser Day a success throughout the state.”

The digital fundraiser was the third time Ohio McDonald’s Owner/Operators have hosted the event, being the first in the nation to launch this type of initiative to support high school athletics in their communities.

The McDonald’s app, which offers exclusive deals, Mobile Order & Pay, and MyMcDonald’s Rewards, is available for download in the Apple App Store and the Android Google Play Store.
