UPPER SANDUSKY, (MARION COUNTY NOW)– Plans have “shifted into full gear” for an upcoming Truck Show sponsored by a local automotive and truck supply company.
McGuire Wholesale, Inc. is hosting the event Saturday, July 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its facility, 21Rhonda Davis, CCN Correspondent5 Commerce Way. Proceeds will benefit a charity that helps veterans facing crisis situations – 1 Is Too Many, a division of Ohio AMVETS.
“We’re on track. The prep is good,” said McGuire Wholesale owner Virgil Jennings about the fourth annual show. “We hope this will be one of the best shows we’ve had, even better than last year.”
About 100 classic trucks and jeeps are expected to participate, Jennings said, including a 1964 Ford F-100 truck owned by Brian Reed of Buckeye Collision in Marion. The pickup is featured on the cover of the Summit Racing Equipment catalog, he said.
Food trucks will be on hand throughout the day, along with musical entertainment. Raffle prizes and a 50-50 drawing are also on tap, with the trophy presentation scheduled for 2 p.m.
Jennings said the company is also donating 10-percent of retail sales that day to 1 Is Too Many, a program for at-risk veterans dealing with PTSD, drug abuse, financial issues, and more. Its goal is to help reduce the number of veteran suicides in the state.
This year, Jennings said, McGuire employees were also involved in selecting the charity of choice. “By doing that I allow everyone here to buy into it,” he said. “We focus on local charities too. We try to keep the money here.”
So far, he said, McGuire has raised $30,000 to support different organizations since the first Truck Show in 2021. “We’d love to be able to hit that mark for this one. It would be awesome if we could do that.”
Trophies will again be awarded in four categories – People’s Choice, Owner’s Choice, Charity Choice, and Kids Choice. Raffle tickets are $10 each with the main prize a Bintelli Beast 49cc moped, Jennings said.
Vehicles of any age can be entered. Registrations for $20 will be accepted until noon on July 27. They are also available in person, online, or by calling McGuire Wholesale, 1-800-860-3744.
