MT. GILEAD, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—In the latest session of the Morrow County Common Pleas Court, several significant cases were reviewed, resulting in a series of verdicts and sentencing decisions.
September 9, 2025:
In the case of State v. Joshua Fowler (25-CR-0037), the defendant was found not guilty of violating a protection order after a two-day jury trial. The case was investigated by Deputy Imars of the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by First Assistant Eddie Bibler.
September 10, 2025:
State v. Jonathan Brown involved multiple charges, including aggravated possession of drugs (25-CR-0054) and two counts of violation of a civil protection order (24-CR-0142). Following the defendant’s jail violations, the prosecution modified its sentencing recommendation. The court ultimately sentenced Brown to 180 days in jail for the CPO violations, with credit for 140 days served, while imposing a 30-month prison sentence for the drug possession charge, along with a $5,000 fine. The case was investigated by Deputies Daniel Sherrer, Jaqulyin Nauman, and Zachary Baker of the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office and by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
September 12, 2025:
Joshua Musselman (25-CR-0017) pleaded guilty to breaking and entering and grand theft of a firearm, leading to the dismissal of an additional grand theft charge. Sentencing is scheduled for November 20, 2025. This case was investigated by Deputy Atwell and Detective Chalfant with the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Ohio BCI, and was prosecuted by Assistant Earl Desmond.
September 16, 2025:
In State v. Herbert Baker (25-CR-0012), the defendant pleaded guilty to domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony, while the aggravated menacing charge was dismissed as part of plea negotiations. The case was prosecuted by First Assistant Eddie Bibler.
September 18, 2025:
The court sentenced Corey Artressia (25-CR-0007) to 36 months in prison for burglary, with an additional year for violating post-release control. Investigated by Deputies Sherrer and Baker, the case was prosecuted by First Assistant Eddie Bibler. In another case, Anna Crouch (24-CR-0058) was allowed to continue on intervention after a violation in her possession of heroin and fentanyl-related compounds charge. Similarly, Cheyenne Seiber (24-CR-0051), charged with assault on an EMS worker, received a sentence of three years of community control, including payment of full restitution.
October 1, 2025:
Joseph Kennedy (2025 CR 0047) entered a plea of guilty to aggravated possession of drugs and operating a vehicle under the influence. The tampering with evidence charge was dismissed. The case was investigated by Trooper Rager of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and prosecuted by Assistant Earl Desmond.
October 7, 2025:
In a notable case, James Musselman Jr. (2025-CR-0080) had a felonious assault charge reduced to a disruption of public service at the victim’s request. This case was investigated by Jason Robinson of the Mt. Gilead Police Department and Sgt. James Binkley of the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, with prosecution by First Assistant Eddie Bibler.
