MORROW COUNTY, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—A jury in Morrow County has delivered a decisive verdict in the case of State of Ohio v. Joshua Boucher, finding him guilty on multiple serious charges, including attempted aggravated murder. The verdict was announced on November 12, 2025, after a trial that revealed harrowing details of a violent incident that occurred on April 1, 2024.

Joshua Boucher, faced a total of 17 counts and  was found guilty on 14 of them, which included:

– Attempted Aggravated Murder – Guilty, with gun specification
– Attempted Murder – Guilty, with gun specification
– Aggravated Burglary – Guilty, with gun specification
– Three Counts of Aggravated Robbery – Guilty, with gun specifications
– Five Counts of Felonious Assault – Guilty on four counts, not guilty on one
– Domestic Violence – Guilty
– Kidnapping – Guilty, with gun specification
– Disrupting Public Services – Guilty
– Four Counts of Tampering with Evidence – Guilty
– Breaking and Entering – Guilty

The case stems from an incident involving Boucher’s estranged wife, whom he shot in the head during a break-in at her home, intending to kill her.

Remarkably, she survived but has been left paralyzed from the shoulders down.

Boucher confronted another woman present in the residence during the attack, forcing her at gunpoint to leave and attempting to steal her phone before fleeing the scene.

After evading law enforcement in Ashland County, Boucher was ultimately apprehended after breaking into another home to hide evidence of his crimes.

County Prosecutor Andrew Wick led the prosecution and commended the swift response and meticulous investigation carried out by the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office. Detective Lt. Rob Chalfant and Detective James Coulter played crucial roles in the investigation, while Detective Brandon Newsome was the first to respond at the scene.

In a statement following the conviction, Prosecutor Wick expressed gratitude towards his entire team and the supporting agencies, emphasizing the significant collaboration that contributed to securing justice for the victims. He highlighted the courage of the victims in testifying and encouraged those in domestic violence situations to seek help, citing resources such as the Morrow County Victim Services Office and the National Domestic Violence Hotline.

Sentencing for Joshua Boucher is scheduled for January 9, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.. in the South Courtroom of the Morrow County Common Pleas Courthouse.
