MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Third Street, a trusted leader in providing comprehensive health and wellness care in surrounding communities, proudly announces the appointment of Andrea Wilson to a new leadership role in the behavioral health department.

“I am thrilled to welcome Andrea as our new Vice President of Behavioral Health and Community-based Programs,” said Peggy Anderson, President and CEO. “Her proven leadership, dedication to improving access to and quality of care, and strong commitment to making a meaningful impact in the community will strengthen our ability to meet the complex needs of our patients.”

Andrea Wilson, born in Phoenix, Arizona, moved to Marysville at the age of five. Raised in the area, she comes from a family with strong local ties. Her father, a used car salesman, opened his own car lot in Marysville when Andrea was just eight years old. As a proud Marysville resident today, she says, “I live here, and I plan to stay here. This is my home, and I am excited to give back to the community that gave so much to me.”

Andrea’s interest in behavioral health began in high school after the tragic loss of a classmate in a car accident. The experience of receiving support from counselors during the grieving process deeply resonated with her. “I was struck by the idea that this was what people could do for a living,” Andrea shared. “I’ve always been a helper, so the opportunity to turn that passion into a career was both intriguing and inspiring.”

After completing her undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University at Marion, where she earned a BA in Psychology, Andrea spent over 14 years working in community mental health. At 28, she returned to school for her master’s in social work, maintaining full-time work status and family along the way. She then transitioned to working in Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), further expanding her experience and skillset. Now, with over two decades of experience in the field, Andrea is thrilled to bring her expertise to Third Street, where she can merge her passion for community mental health, housing, and integrated care to help improve the lives of those in Marion, Mansfield, Bucyrus, and Ashland.

“I’m excited about the opportunity at Third Street because it brings together all of my passions and professional experiences,” said Andrea. “The mission to provide accessible, comprehensive healthcare aligns perfectly with my values. Access to care—whether behavioral, physical, or dental—is life-changing. And housing, which is so often overlooked, is a critical piece of the puzzle when it comes to improving health outcomes.”

Andrea believes strongly in the importance of community-based care. She has seen firsthand how addressing barriers like transportation and lack of access to services can help improve trust and outcomes. “When people don’t have access to care, they’re less likely to seek it. But when we meet people where they are, break down barriers, and build trust, we make a real difference,” she emphasized.

One of Andrea’s primary goals in her new role is to help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, substance use, and homelessness. “We all need to recognize that everyone is just one crisis away from needing support. It’s important to see each other as human beings first,” she says. “I want to create a space where people can get the care they need without judgment.”

In addition to her professional achievements, Andrea remains devoted to her family and enjoys spending quality time with them. The Wilson family is known for their weekly game nights, which have become a beloved tradition for their community friends. “Family game night is a staple in our house. It’s what we’re known for!” Andrea laughed.

As Third Street continues its mission to provide innovative, holistic healthcare to all, Andrea is excited to help shape its future, bringing both her experience and passion to the table. She is eager to work alongside the outstanding teams in Marion, Mansfield, Bucyrus, and Ashland, who share her commitment and dedication to making a difference in the lives of the people they serve.
