COLUMBUS, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Approximately 40 Soldiers from the Ohio Army National Guard’s Battery C, 1st Battalion, 174th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, based in Marysville, Ohio, are deploying to the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
A public Call to Duty Ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the Marysville High School Alumni Hall Performing Arts Center, 800 Amrine Mill Road, Marysville, OH 43040.
During the deployment, the unit will operate the Avenger Air Defense System, providing short-range air and missile defense against unmanned aerial systems, missile threats, rotary-wing aircraft, and low-altitude fixed-wing aircraft. Their mission is to protect critical assets and personnel throughout the CENTCOM region.
This marks the unit’s third overseas deployment, following previous missions in 2010–2011 and 2018–2019.
