Ohio State Grad pursues IVF career with ARTLAB training

MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Kaitlynn Pfeifer, a Mount Gilead native and Ohio State Marion alumna, is pursuing a career in in vitro fertilization (IVF) after discovering her next step through social media.

Pfeifer, who graduated from Ohio State last fall with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, was recently admitted to ARTLAB in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. ARTLAB is a mock IVF training lab offering hands-on embryology training.

Pfeifer credits TikTok for introducing her to ARTLAB. “I discovered ARTLAB through social media, specifically TikTok,” she said. “While scrolling, I came across @alease_the_embryologist, who shares advice, encouragement, and insights about the IVF process. She also introduced her audience to ARTLAB, which piqued my interest.”

Her path to ARTLAB was further solidified by two scholarships: a $10,000 Schwarz Family Foundation Scholarship and a $2,500 Subway Fresh Start Scholarship.

Pfeifer’s interest in embryology and IVF developed during her senior year of high school. “I wanted a career where I could bring happiness and hope to others, and IVF does that by helping individuals and couples overcome infertility,” she said.

She chose IVF due to the growing demand for trained embryologists. “The demand for IVF procedures has significantly increased in recent years due to advancements in technology, improved accessibility, affordability, and evolving family planning,” Pfeifer said.

ARTLAB’s 10-week program allows her to fast-track her training and offers job placement assistance. “Working in a fertility clinic aligns perfectly with my aspirations,” she said. “I will find immense fulfillment in helping individuals and families achieve their dreams of parenthood.”

Pfeifer praised her experience at Ohio State Marion, emphasizing the strong connections she built with peers and professors. “The most valuable aspect of attending Ohio State at Marion has been the strong connections I have built with peers and professors,” she said. “Their support has been invaluable.”

She also highlighted the university’s reputation. “Ohio State’s culture is incredibly unique. No matter where you go- a grocery store, a restaurant, or even out of state- you will encounter the pride and excitement people feel about being part of Ohio State,” Pfeifer said.

Pfeifer’s journey, from her high school aspirations to her focused training at ARTLAB, reflects her dedication to helping families achieve their dreams of parenthood.
