MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Troopers from the Marion Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Monday evening in Marion Township.
The collision took place at approximately 7:10 p.m. on Jan. 19 on Marion-Williamsport Road West.
According to a preliminary investigation, Joshua Criswell, 42, of Marion, was traveling northeast in a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu when his vehicle crossed the centerline. Criswell’s car struck a southwest-bound 2003 Kenworth T600 semi-tractor driven by Joshua Silvia, 37, also of Marion.
Following the impact, Criswell’s vehicle traveled off the east side of the roadway. Silvia’s semi, which was pulling a 2025 Fontaine trailer, veered off the west side of the road and struck a ditch.
Criswell was pronounced deceased at the scene. Troopers noted that Criswell was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Silvia sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Marion Township Fire and EMS, the Marion County Coroner’s Office, and Liverpool Towing and Recovery.
The crash remains under investigation.
