MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—As Earth Day 2026 approaches, an Ohio State University expert is inviting the local community to a conversation on how small, individual changes can lead to a more sustainable lifestyle.

Dr. Anna J. Willow, Professor of Anthropology and Faculty Director of Environmental Learning Labs at Ohio State Marion, will be the featured speaker at the “Buckeye Talks on Tap” community lecture series on Tuesday, April 14. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at Bucci’s Italian Scratch Kitchen, located inside Passenger and Rail Co. in downtown Marion.

In her presentation, titled “Make Everyday Earth Day,” Willow will discuss the concept of ecological footprints and offer a roadmap of practical actions for residents. Her strategies focus on accessible changes, such as reducing waste, composting food scraps, adopting plant-based meals, and increasing home energy efficiency.

“This session will celebrate the small things each of us can do every day to reduce our environmental impact and be good ancestors for our children and grandchildren,” Willow said.

Willow is an environmental anthropologist whose research examines how communities respond to environmental change. She is the author of several books, including Understanding ExtrACTIVISM, and currently serves as the chairperson for the nonprofit Sustainable Delaware, Ohio.

The “Buckeye Talks on Tap” series is modeled after the international Science Café movement, designed to bring scholars and the public together in a relaxed, conversational setting to discuss timely issues.

Doors for the event open at 5 p.m., with the lecture followed by a brief Q&A session. Admission is free, and attendees will be entered into a door prize drawing provided by Anchor and Away Travel. Guests are also welcome to purchase dinner or drinks during the program.
