MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—In the early morning hours, Marion Central Dispatch received a call from an individual who witnessed two perpetrators vandalizing a business window just north of downtown.
The caller provided real-time updates as officers were dispatched to the scene.
Officers Kent and Kelly were the first to arrive at the business, later joined by Officer Doubikin. As Officer Kelly coordinated the deployment of his K9 unit, Officer Kent and Officer Kelly confronted one of the suspects behind the store, leading to a foot pursuit involving all three officers.
Meanwhile, a second suspect was discovered hiding between two houses and attempted to flee upon detection.
Officer Kent pursued the first suspect, successfully apprehending them, while Officers Doubikin and Kelly focused on capturing the second suspect.
A subsequent video review confirmed the involvement of only these two individuals in the incident.
The successful apprehension of the suspects was attributed to the prompt action of the citizen who reported the crime and the coordinated efforts of all officers involved in responding to the incident, apprehending the suspects, and conducting the investigation.
