MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Ohio State University Board of Trustees today appointed Ravi V. Bellamkonda as the 18th president in university history, effective immediately. His appointment comes just two short weeks after his visit, as Provost, to The Ohio State University at Marion.
According to Ohio State Marion Dean and Director, Dr. Jennifer Schlueter, it was a very inspiring visit. “President Bellamkonda is a genuinely thoughtful and innovative leader who engages as deeply with the needs and opportunities on a small, vital open-access regional campus as he does with the work of any of the other colleges he leads. He is committed, truly, to the land-grant mission and I’m excited to work alongside him to advance an Ohio State education open to all our citizens,” said Dean Schlueter.
Bellamkonda’s first visit to Ohio State Marion began with an in-depth tour of campus facilities. Walking in the company of campus leaders and faculty through labs, classrooms, and student spaces, gaining a firsthand look at the experiential, hands-on learning, and witnessing the close faculty mentorship, and wraparound supports that define us as Marion in scale, Ohio State in scope.
Along the way, he met with students, faculty, and staff—and engaged local leaders and stakeholders, including Ohio State Marion Advisory Board representative, Co-Founder and Vice President of Alluvial Private Wealth, Lisa Bush, —gaining a fuller picture of how deeply this campus is woven into the life and future of the Marion region.
Experiencing Ohio State Marion’s work on the ground made clear both the challenges the local campus navigates and the ambition driving its next chapter. Bellamkonda left with a strong sense of the campus’s momentum—and with Ohio State Marion’s continued excellence very much in mind.
