RICHWOOD, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Richwood Bank is proud to partner with the Armed Forces Financial Network (AFFN) and the Association of Military Banks of America (AMBA) to support the Village of Richwood’s Celebrate the Heroes Among Us event on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at North Union Middle School. The partnership is providing $6,000 in funding to help bring the free community event to life.
Funding for the event was made possible through the AFFN Matching Grant Program, which supports military community initiatives through a partnership between AFFN, AMBA and participating financial institutions. Through the program, AMBA contributed $1,500 and AFFN contributed $1,500, with Richwood Bank matching each grant dollar-for-dollar, resulting in a total investment of $6,000 in the event. AFFN’s matching grant program is designed to support military members, veterans and their families through community-focused initiatives.
The event will honor and celebrate veterans, active-duty military personnel, law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS professionals and other community heroes whose service strengthens communities across Ohio and the nation. Promotional materials for the event highlight activities including a touch-a-truck experience, opportunities to meet military service members, law enforcement representatives, and fire and EMS personnel, along with complimentary food and refreshments.
“This event is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our community to celebrate those who put service before self. Our heroes watch over us 365 days a year, locally and all around the world and they deserve to be celebrated,” said event coordinator Gail DeGood Guy. “We’re grateful to AFFN and AMBA for partnering with us to make this celebration possible and to help us honor the military members, veterans and first responders who make such a difference in our communities,” added Chad Hoffman, President and CEO of Richwood Bank.
AFFN is the nation’s only electronic funds transfer network focused specifically on serving military members, veterans and military families, while AMBA represents banks committed to meeting the financial needs of military communities. Together, the organizations have supported military-focused community initiatives for more than two decades through programs such as the AFFN Matching Grant Program.
Ohio is home to a significant veteran population, including communities throughout Richwood Bank’s service area. AFFN identified support for military and veteran communities as a key focus of its Military Community Support Program and matching grant initiatives.
The Celebrate the Heroes Among Us event is free and open to the public and will take place from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, at North Union Middle School.
