The almost two-hour bus ride south of Lancaster to Sugar Grove was well worth the trip as Ridgedale’s Lady Rockets pick up their first Sectional Title in a few years with a 12-2 over the Berne Union Lady Rockets.

Alexis Burton took charge, propelling the Ridgedale softball team to victory over Berne Union with an impressive five runs batted in. Her standout moment came with a powerful home run to center field during the second inning, driving in three runs. She continued her stellar performance with a clutch single in the fourth inning.

After giving up a pair of runs on a throwing error in the bottom of the third, Ridgedale’s offense went back to work, scoring six in the top of the fourth. After Taylor Bouahom singled to start off the inning and Kenzie Delaney singled, Burton singled again to deep center scoring two more. Riley Delaney and Alexa Garnes also singled to load the bases, Adyson Thomas singled in another run before Brenda Scott doubled deep to left center scoring two more. Lilly Ruth singled Scott in to wrap up the scoring for the inning.

Ridgedale would add another run in the fifth to push the lead out to ten.

The Lady Rockets move on to a district semi-final against #1 seed Danville, who defeated #2 seed Newark Catholic in their Sectional Final 7-0. Game time in Danville on Tuesday will be 5pm.
