MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—On September 9 and September 13, 2024, the Ridgedale Local School District received bomb threats via email.

Both incidents generated an extensive response and search of the campus by Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Troopers from the Marion Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, including an Explosive Ordnance Detecting K9 from OSP. Additionally, the Ridgedale Local School District was closed on September 13, 2024, due to the threat.

The Ridgedale Local School District has since resumed normal operations following the arrest of the suspect. The school district and law enforcement officials are working together to ensure the safety of all students and staff members moving forward.

The 15-year-old suspect is currently in custody and will face legal consequences for his actions. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is reminding the public to report any suspicious activity or threats to law enforcement immediately.

The swift response and thorough investigation by law enforcement officials have helped bring a sense of relief to the Ridgedale community. Marion County Sheriff Matt Bayles emphasized the importance of taking all threats seriously and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
