MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The United Way of North Central Ohio (UWNCO) will move its Marion office to a newly purchased, permanent downtown location on Oct. 1, according to an announcement from the organization.

UWNCO, which serves Crawford, Marion, Morrow, Seneca, and Wyandot counties, has purchased a building at 198 E. Center Street after leasing temporary office space for a period. The new location will serve as a central hub, offering ample space for office operations, community meetings, and potential future service expansion.

“I’m excited to share the news that we purchased a building at 198 E. Center Street in Marion, and will move in October first,” said Amber Wertman, UWNCO CEO. “This location gives our organization great visibility and access, right in the heart of the community.”

The purchase aligns with the organization’s commitment to investing in downtown Marion. The down payment for the building was made possible through unrestricted disbursements from the George H. Alber Fund, which is held at the Columbus Foundation. The purchase did not use any money from UWNCO’s annual Community Campaign or other donated funds intended for local program support.

Wertman noted that a decision by a previous United Way board to invest a portion of the annual Alber Fund disbursements made the real estate purchase possible. The new mortgage payment is reportedly less than the organization’s previous rental costs.

UWNCO maintains a second office in Tiffin at 201 S. Washington Street.
