UPPER SANDUSKY, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Wyandot County Public Health is preparing for the approaching respiratory illness season by offering multiple opportunities for residents to receive the 2025-2026 influenza vaccine, available both by appointment and during special walk-in clinics.
The health department is providing the thimerosal-free trivalent flu vaccine for all individuals 6 months and older. A high-dose flu vaccine is also available specifically for residents ages 65 and older.
Vaccinations can be scheduled by appointment on Mondays and Fridays by calling the Wyandot County Public Health office at 419-294-3852.
In addition to scheduled appointments, the department will host Walk-In Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the following dates: Oct. 22, Oct. 29, Nov. 5, Nov. 12, Nov. 19, and Nov. 26. All walk-in clinics will be held at the Wyandot County Public Health facility.
Officials urge all who plan to be vaccinated to bring all insurance cards. The flu vaccine is free with most major insurances accepted by the department. Reduced-cost vaccines may be available to those who are uninsured or underinsured, and individuals may also choose to pay out-of-pocket. Questions regarding insurance coverage should be directed to the health department at 419-294-3852.
Guardians are reminded to bring identification with them when accompanying a minor to their appointment.
While vaccination is cited as the first and most crucial step in preventing respiratory illness, the health department reminds the community of other protective actions. These include staying home when sick, properly covering coughs and sneezes, frequent and proper handwashing, and masking in public when feeling ill.
