WYANDOT COUNTY, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office, the Wyandot County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Major Crimes Unit is issuing an alert to warn residents of a financial institution scam targeting senior citizens and other members of Premier Bank.

Scammers are contacting residents via phone call, text message, or email claiming to be from Premier Bank. The individual will provide false credentials and claim that there is an issue with your bank account. In order to resolve the issue, the scammer will ask you to withdraw a large sum of money from your bank account and relinquish it to them, either in person or through digital currency.

Residents should be extremely cautious about any unsolicited phone calls or messages. Never give out personal information, such as bank account details, passwords, or account security questions. Always verify the legitimacy of a request by speaking directly with your local Premier Bank branch, preferably in person. If you must contact Premier Bank by phone, always use a verified number. Never use a contact phone number or email address provided by the caller or sender. Do not click links or download attachments from suspicious emails or text messages. If you receive a suspicious call or message, hang up or delete the message. Do not engage with the scammer. If you believe you may have been the victim of a scam, contact your local law enforcement agency immediately and file a report. You can also report scams to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at ftc.gov.
