UPPER SANDUSKY, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—An Indiana man is facing multiple felony charges following a joint multi-state investigation into illicit communications with a minor, officials announced Monday.

James W. Slonaker, 41, of Cambridge City, Indiana, was arrested and charged with Child Exploitation, Child Solicitation, and Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material following the execution of a search warrant at his home on September 30.

The investigation began in January 2026 when the Wyandot County Major Crimes Unit and METRICH Enforcement Unit in Ohio received reports of inappropriate text and video exchanges between an adult male and a juvenile residing in Wyandot County.

Ohio detectives ultimately identified Slonaker as the primary suspect and coordinated with the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force to execute the search warrant.

While Slonaker currently faces felony charges in Indiana, the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office stated that additional criminal charges will be forwarded to the Wyandot County Prosecutor’s Office for review, with further charges expected.

Wyandot County Sheriff Todd D. Frey commended the investigators for their dedication to protecting local youth and urged the public to remain vigilant. Authorities encourage citizens to report suspicious activity anonymously using the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office app, the METRICH app, or by contacting local law enforcement agencies.
