MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Ziair Greene, 21, formerly of Marion and currently incarcerated at the Allen Correctional Institution, has had his appeal for conviction denied. Greene was indicted in 2021 on charges of murder and felonious assault, with a gun specification, in the death of his former stepfather, Ricco McGhee.

Following a lengthy jury trial, Greene was found guilty in July of one count of murder and one count of felonious assault. Marion County Common Pleas Court Judge W. T. Edwards subsequently sentenced him to 18 years to life in prison.

Greene initiated the appeal process immediately after his conviction. On Monday, the Third District Court of Appeals issued a ruling affirming the judgment of the lower court. The 39-page decision supports the original findings of Judge Edwards.
