MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Kingston of Marion will host its annual mum sale on Wednesday, September 11, and Thursday, September 12, to raise funds for the upcoming Alzheimer’s Walk. The sale, featuring locally grown 8-inch mums for $11, will take place at the Kingston location, 464 James Way, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days.

Bob Goyer, Community Relations Director for Kingston of Marion, said all proceeds will support the Alzheimer’s Walk, scheduled for September 27. The annual event is a key part of Kingston’s commitment to supporting the Alzheimer’s Association.

“Each year we support, you know, when we’re involved in the Alzheimer’s walk,” Goyer said. “So we have this fundraiser… so we can do our part in supporting the… Alzheimer’s walk, which is… really a neat time to get together.”

Goyer highlighted the unique atmosphere of Kingston’s memory care unit, which was specifically designed for individuals with memory loss. He noted the facility’s personalized approach to care, which includes a dedicated staff and a separate kitchen to provide specialized services. Goyer encouraged families with elderly relatives to consider “aging in place” at Kingston, which offers a seamless transition from independent to assisted living and memory care.

He also emphasized the importance of spending time with elderly relatives to listen to their life stories. “I think if kids… want to, the best thing you can do for their parent that’s an elderly parent is actually listen to them. Spend time, ask them questions,” Goyer said.
