MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Marion Technical College (MTC) is expanding its career-focused education programs following record-breaking enrollment and the acquisition of multiple federal grants to enhance technical studies.
Mike White, Associate Dean of Technical Programs, highlighted the success of the full-time Criminal Justice Academy, which boasts a 100% job placement rate for students earning state certification.
The college is leveraging two new National Science Foundation grants to advance its Information Technology offerings. One grant focuses on Cybersecurity, funding a new curriculum and a mobile lab to provide software exposure to rural schools. The second grant establishes a new certificate program in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and offers free AI training to local businesses and communities.
Additionally, MTC’s College Credit Plus (CCP) program, directed by Cal Morris, has seen enrollment records broken for three consecutive years, with 2,126 high school students currently participating. Last spring, MTC graduated 46 CCP students with a debt-free associate degree before they received their high school diplomas.
Morris also noted MTC’s recent $1.7 million ARPED grant, which will provide laptops and hotspots to 18 rural high schools to address technology gaps and support student success.
For those interested in enrollment or community training, MTC encourages visiting its website, MTC.edu, to use the “Apply Now” feature or contact the college directly.
