UPPER SANDUSKY, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Hub Kids, a new after-school program, has launched a second location at Union School to serve kindergarten through third-grade students. This expansion addresses a critical local childcare shortage by offering a safe, structured environment for young students after school.

The program, led by local resident Sarah Lehnhart, runs at Union School from dismissal until 5:30 p.m. While the K-3 program is currently full, the original Hub Kids location at the Wyandot Community Connections center is still accepting students in grades four through nine.

Lehnhart emphasized that the program relies entirely on volunteers and donations. She highlighted the need for more volunteers to help with homework and games, as well as monetary contributions.

“This is a passion project of mine,” Lehnhart said. “It was something that the community needed and as a single mom that I needed.”

The Union School location was chosen so younger children could stay on campus. Buses from other local schools are also routed to Union, allowing more students to participate.
