MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Kingston of Marion, a senior living community, is more than just a place to live; it’s a family, according to Bob Goyer, who recently joined Randy Bigley on “Community Spotlight.”
Goyer, who has been with Kingston for 14 years, emphasized the unique atmosphere and the “X Factor” that sets the community apart. “It boils down to it’s the people,” he said, citing the supportive staff and management team.
He described a daily 9 a.m. management meeting where staff members support and care for each other, creating a family-like environment. This, he believes, translates to a positive experience for residents. “If you have happy employees, they’re going to be happy with the residents,” Goyer said.
Visitors often comment on the “happy place” atmosphere at Kingston. “A stranger walks in for the first time… and they can tell it’s a happy place,” Goyer noted, contrasting it with the stereotypical image of a nursing home.
Kingston strives to create a welcoming and home-like environment, offering various activities and events for residents. Recent examples include a chili cook-off and upcoming summer concerts featuring popular local performers. “It’s like going to a resort,” Goyer said, while also highlighting the community’s homeliness.
Recognizing the difficult decision families make when placing a loved one in assisted living, Goyer stressed the compassionate care provided at Kingston. Residents are welcomed with open arms, and staff members are dedicated to ensuring their well-being.
Kingston also provides transportation for residents to medical appointments and shopping trips, and organizes outings to local attractions.
“They don’t just stay in the building, they do get out if they can and they want to and it’s their choice,” Goyer said.
The community is also preparing for the upcoming Senior Expo on May 23rd, which Goyer is organizing. He noted that the event is already full of sponsors, including the Caledonia Farmers Market, who found great success at the event last year.
