MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Remnant, a local coffee shop, has found a thriving home in the historic Charleston Place building in downtown Marion, located at 187 W Center St. Abigail Jordan from The Remnant recently shared the shop’s journey and offerings.

The Remnant’s story began on Church St. in a smaller building connected to the Masonic Temple, opening its doors in June or July 2021. Due to rapid growth, the business soon outgrew its initial space. This led to a move to the larger Charleston Place, a building with its own history, having previously housed JC Penney’s and a furniture store, and even serving as an initial location for other downtown businesses.

“We moved over there and I, I tell everybody, we’re like a goldfish. We just grew to our space,” Jordan explained, noting the increased room allows for a more relaxed atmosphere with quiet nooks for customers.

Beyond coffee and tea, The Remnant has expanded its menu to include fresh baked pastries from a new baker, as well as breakfast items like egg and bacon sandwiches. They also offer bubble teas, providing a variety of options for customers.

The current hours for The Remnant are Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The later hours on Thursday and Friday cater to those looking to unwind after work.

Located near the Palace Theatre and other downtown attractions, The Remnant also boasts easy parking access. Jordan highlighted the family-friendly aspect of their location, with Max & Erma’s and a kids’ play area nearby.

The Remnant is also known for hosting tea parties, sometimes featuring princesses who interact with children before they head to play areas.
