MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The United Way of North Central Ohio is wrapping up a crucial phase of its community support efforts while looking ahead to a fundraising event in Crawford County.

Amber Wertman, CEO of the United Way of North Central Ohio, and Beth Jarvis, the organization’s new development director for Crawford and Morrow counties, recently discussed ongoing initiatives on the “United is the Way” podcast, hosted by Randy Bigley.

Wertman announced that Monday was the final day for partner agencies, including non-profits, governmental entities, and schools, to submit applications for Community Impact Grants. The deadline was set for 11:59 p.m. The organization will now begin the process of reviewing these applications with the help of a community cabinet, utilizing a results-based accountability and collective impact framework. The goal is to fund programs that foster successful children, healthy families, and self-sufficient residents across their five-county service area.

“It’s a great way to get to know what are the programs, what are the nonprofits serving your area? Are they helping kids and helping seniors, ALICE population folks? What are the programs that are happening right here at home and it’s the best way to learn that,” Wertman said, encouraging community members to volunteer as allocation reviewers.

Looking ahead, Schriver highlighted the upcoming annual Purse Bingo event, which will be held on Friday, June 13, at the Crawford County Fairgrounds youth building. This event serves as a fundraiser to support the United Way’s campaign.
