MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The United Way of North Central Ohio (UWNCO) is celebrating a significant milestone, announcing a move to a new, owned facility and the completion of its annual financial review.
CEO Amber Wertman confirmed that UWNCO has purchased a building at 198 East Center Street in downtown Marion, utilizing funds from the unrestricted George Alber endowment. The move is expected to save money on leasing costs, with the mortgage being lower than previous lease payments, allowing more funds to flow into community programs across its five-county service area (Wyandot, Seneca, Crawford, Marion, and Morrow).
Wertman also announced the organization’s fourth consecutive clean audit with no findings, underscoring its commitment to transparency and financial stewardship.
Looking ahead, UWNCO will host its United Way North Central Ohio Coffee Crawl 2025 across all five counties, beginning Nov. 11. The series offers a chance for the community to learn about UWNCO’s four “bold goal” areas—successful children, healthy families, self-sufficient residents, and strong communities—and connects citizens with funded partner agencies. The organization also reminded residents to utilize the free 2-1-1 information and referral line for non-emergency health and social service needs.
