LEXINGTON, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is set to roar to life this Fourth of July weekend as the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Presented by the All-New 2026 Passport kicks off Friday, July 4, and runs through Sunday, July 6. The three-day event will feature nine races, live music, fireworks, and a host of fan-friendly activities.
Headlining the weekend is the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, returning to the 2.258-mile, 13-turn road course for the 42nd time. A competitive field of 27 drivers will take the green flag on Sunday, including two entries from Pataskala-based Meyer Shank Racing — Marcus Armstrong and Felix Rosenqvist. The duo has already set a team record with 12 top-10 finishes this season, with Rosenqvist currently fourth in the championship standings.
“I love Mid-Ohio. This track is very special to me as it’s where I drove an Indy car for the first time,” said Rosenqvist. “It’s also our team’s home track and the place of my first podium.”
The weekend also holds special significance for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Graham Rahal and his father, Bobby Rahal, both past winners at Mid-Ohio. Bobby Rahal, who claimed victories in 1985 and 1986, will serve as grand marshal in honor of the 40th anniversary of his first win at the track.
“Mid-Ohio is kind of like my home track,” said Rahal. “The fans are the best at Mid-Ohio. I’m really pleased and looking forward to a great weekend.”
Among the favorites is current points leader and 2025 Indianapolis 500 winner Alex Palou, who has won six of the season’s nine races. The Chip Ganassi Racing driver, piloting the No. 10 OpenAI Honda, won at Mid-Ohio in 2023 and finished second in 2024.
Off-track festivities begin Thursday evening with a kickoff party at The Local @ 97 in downtown Lexington, featuring driver appearances, live music, and an INDYCAR show car. Friday night includes a patriotic golf cart parade, live music from Panco Black Root, and camping activities.
Saturday’s highlights include INDYCAR qualifying, the “Camping with Honda” tradition, and a screening of Disney’s Cars followed by a fireworks display at dusk.
On Sunday, fans can participate in the Fan Grid Walk from 12:20 to 12:50 p.m. before Bobby Rahal gives the command to start engines at 1:15 p.m. The 90-lap race begins at 1:22 p.m. with live national coverage on FOX starting at 1 p.m.
