UPPER SANDUSKY, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—Upper Sandusky High School senior Lucas Alspach has been honored as the Scholar Student of the Week, receiving a $500 scholarship from The Ohio State University at Marion. The award was presented by Michelle McKinniss, Manager of Student Success Programming, alongside Ohio State Marion student Samantha Strong.
The recognition celebrates students who demonstrate excellence not only in the classroom but also in leadership, athletics, and character. Alspach embodies all of those qualities.
Academically, he has maintained straight A’s throughout high school while balancing a rigorous schedule that includes Industrial Arts 3 and Ag 3 in addition to his core classes. His ability to excel in diverse subjects shows his drive to challenge himself and prepare for future opportunities.

Alspach is also a three-sport athlete, competing in football, basketball, and track and field. Whether on the field or in the gym, his commitment and work ethic are clear. Teachers and coaches alike note that his determination to succeed is matched by his willingness to support and encourage teammates.
His leadership extends beyond athletics. As secretary of his FFA class, Alspach takes on additional responsibilities that allow him to contribute to the school’s agricultural program and set an example for younger members.
What stands out most about Alspach, however, is not just his list of achievements but his character. Known for his kind words, positive outlook, and infectious smile, he brightens the halls of Upper Sandusky High School and makes a lasting impact on those around him.
The Scholar Student of the Week scholarship is designed to highlight well-rounded students who represent the values of dedication, integrity, and community spirit. Alspach’s recognition serves as a testament to his hard work and the support of those who have encouraged him along the way.
As he looks ahead to life after graduation, he carries with him a reputation for excellence, leadership, and kindness—qualities that will no doubt continue to guide his success in the years to come.
Each Scholar Student of the Week honoree receives a $500 scholarship and is entered into a drawing for a chance to win an additional $1,000 scholarship at the end of the academic year. The program will continue throughout the football and basketball seasons, recognizing outstanding students across the region.
