MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) announced several new construction projects scheduled to begin this month in Marion County, including a long-term bridge closure and resurfacing work that will impact local commuters.
All scheduled work is weather permitting.
Starting Monday, April 13, State Route 529 will close under U.S. Route 23 for a bridge rehabilitation project. The closure is expected to last approximately 120 days. Motorists are advised to use the designated detour of SR 529 to SR 95 to SR 98, or the reverse.
Additionally, SR 95 will undergo resurfacing and repair work between New Bloomington and La Rue. Starting Monday, April 13, various daytime lane restrictions will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. These restrictions are expected to continue through May 2026. While two-way traffic will be maintained via flaggers during the day, drivers should expect delays.
A full weekend closure of SR 95 between New Bloomington and La Rue is also scheduled for pavement repairs. The closure will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, April 17, and last until 7 a.m. Monday, April 20. The detour for this closure will be SR 95 to SR 203 to SR 309 to SR 37, or the reverse.
ODOT officials urge motorists to remain alert, reduce speeds, and watch for stopped traffic when traveling through work zones. Drivers are reminded to “move over or slow down” to ensure the safety of construction crews and the public.
