MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—The Five Nights on Campus performing arts series is concluding its season by transforming the Ohio State Marion campus into a neighborhood festival and live storytelling event on Thursday, May 14.

The event, Who We Are Now: A Celebration of Marion, OH, serves as a signature contribution to the city’s America 250 celebrations. Directed by Dr. Jennifer Schlueter, Dean and Director of Ohio State Marion, the program blends local history with live performances to explore themes of community and belonging.

“This project is my way of giving something back — a space where our community can see itself, hear itself, and celebrate itself,” Schlueter said.

The evening kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with an outdoor festival featuring food, music, and lawn games. In partnership with the Marion Historical Society, volunteers will be on-site to scan personal memorabilia brought by attendees to preserve community memories.

At 7:30 p.m., the event moves into Morrill Hall Auditorium for a performance featuring real stories from Marion residents, brought to life through narration and music. The night concludes with the return of “The Marion Open,” featuring a finale by the Marion Harding High School drum and bugle corps.

Organizers noted that memories gathered during the event will inform a larger performance scheduled for the Marion Palace Theatre in December 2026.

Tickets are $10 for general admission, $9 for seniors, and $4 for students. Faculty and staff from Ohio State Marion and Marion Technical College can purchase tickets for $8. Tickets are available at the door or by contacting Jodi Somerlot at 740-725-6156.
