DELAWARE, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—A Delaware County judge has announced his retirement amid allegations of sexual assault and harassment against an assistant county prosecutor. According to records from the Ohio Supreme Court, Delaware County Common Pleas Court Judge James Schuck submitted letters to Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice Sharon Kennedy on June 11, stating his retirement took effect on June 15.

The letters do not provide a specific reason for Schuck’s departure from his elected position. Notably, he has been on voluntary leave since an assistant prosecutor sought a civil stalking protection order against him.

Schuck has consistently denied all allegations of criminal conduct and previously agreed to a protection order.

Governor DeWine is expected to appoint a replacement for the judge, after which an election will be held to fill the remainder of the term.
