MARION, OH (MARION COUNTY NOW)—After 24 years with the Marion Police Department, Officer Todd Monnette retired from full-time duty Wednesday, concluding a career that included recognition for service and years spent working with students as a school resource officer.

Monnette joined the department in 2001 and became a familiar presence in the community during his more than two decades of service.

In 2013, Monnette was named the Marion Police Department’s Officer of the Year, an honor recognizing his contributions to the department and the community.

During his career, Monnette also served as a school resource officer, working closely with students and school staff throughout the Marion City School District. In that role, he helped promote safety while building relationships with young people in the community.

Department officials praised Monnette’s dedication and the impact he made throughout his career.

Although Monnette has retired from his full-time position, he will remain with the department as a reserve officer, continuing to volunteer his time in support of public safety efforts.

Colleagues and community members expressed appreciation for Monnette’s years of service and his continued commitment to the city of Marion.
